UN Women – blog writing and editing
Jam makers in Mexico, peacebuilders in Colombia, coffee growers from Java, and digital pioneers from South Africa … these are just some of the wonderful people and groups we’ve written about for UN Women’s www.empowerwomen.org, a website and portal that promotes economic empowerment for women, especially those in developing countries.
Since July 2014 we have been working with UN Women, the UN body that promotes gender equality – to write and re-edit material.
We have edited and rewritten around 40 blogs and case studies written by women entrepreneurs who are using business skills to tackle poverty and injustice. These aim to inspire other women to set up in business.
Whatever their story or circumstances our team of writers and editors makes sure that these women’s positive and inspiring messages shine through.
As the original authors are not always confident English writers, our role is to restructure and rewrite these stories to make them message-led and engaging, without losing the individual ‘voice’ or testimony of the original authors.
This is sometimes a challenge, but always a pleasure. It’s great to bring to life the stories and testimonies of these inspiring women.
Our role with the empowerwomen website is wider, though. We also help the New York based team bring together learning resources and web discussions on issues affecting women’s economic empowerment in developing countries. We use our writing skills to condense and convey insight and discussion on how to help women better their lives and communities.
We rewrite and edit these resources which are made available to over 8,000 individuals and community and voluntary organisations across the world.
